Workplace Teams

From studying this chapter I believe that it would benefit me a great deal in the workplace if I was offered the opportunity to be a team leader. Situation may arise when you have to be a follower by if you are asked to lead a term do it. This leadership role could lead to a higher position with more pay.

Since reading this chapter I see that I need to improve my personal and work characteristics in the following areas.1. Establish eye contact with the individual. 2. Repeat the other person name I tend to forget names because of not having eye contact. 3. Remember the BMW rule for table etiquette and always place my napkin in my lap with the fold to my body.

Learning Objection 1
At five minutes before my lunch my supervisor tells me that he need 50 copies of a 15-page report for a meeting immediately after lunch. What will I do? Because he is my supervisor and I respect my boss I would make the copies even though it may take 30 minutes or longer. Sure it may inconvenient me but by doing small things like this can produce great benefits for me. By doing this one thing and having good work ethics can open the door for a raise or maybe a promotion.

Objective 2
My phone ring while I'm on the elevator with several of my colleagues. In my mind I'm saying why now, but I politely says excuse me and answer the phone. Briefly I tell the other party that I cannot talk at the moment and hang up the phone. Before I return back to my colleagues I put the phone on silent. Then I apologize again to my colleagues.

Office Procedures

As I look to the future of this class I see a work in progress. I hope that when I finish this class I'll be able to pass some of my knowledge on to someone else. Hopefully I can advance my learning in blogging so that I can share some recipes or other work related entries on blog. My future career is to become a better church secretary.
